ENTERTAINMENT

  Jim Muir.

Sad to report the death of  Jim Muir on Thursday 30th of August 2012.

Since his RAF days, Jim and his wife Davina, have lived at Cenarth about 8 miles from Cardigan. He was 78 when he  died  peacefully in hospital at Carmarthen.

“Flt Lt Jim Muir” was the Officer Commanding MSF (Missile Servicing Flight), based in Building 247  on the RAE Aberporth Range site, from around 1966 to 1970, covering the start of the BHFU Mk2 trials.

Jim can be seen in the front row of the 1967 and 1969 BHFU Squadron photographs, and taking down the RAF Ensign at the Station Closedown in May 1984.

Always a true gentleman, it was a real pleasure to have worked with him on many firing trials at RAE Aberporth  in those “pioneering” years.      Mike

Post Script:       November 2013 -  Sadly, Jim’s wife Davina  died this month.

NOTICE BOARD

And

Mandy Ford.

Much sadder, for my own family, was the sudden death after a short illness of my daughter-in-law Mandy.

Mandy died unexpectedly aged 50 on   Thursday Sept 6th 2012,   just a week after Jim Muir.

Mandy was married to my son and business partner Chris, and having worked in our retail shop for some years, her loss is having an on-going impact on our family AND our business as you may imagine.

Family events like this make one look at life with a different perspective, such that in March 2013 we made a BIG decision to drop down to a 5 day week, permanently, by closing all day every Wednesday.

It’s  having only a small financial impact on the business, but a good one on ourselves.

After retailing 6 days a week for 40 years from 1975 when I left the RAF as a Chief Tech,

I realised we  should have done it a long time ago.

Time given over to Updates to this web-site are still affected even in summer 2015.

1429 ATC Cardigan & Aberporth Squadron

Of interest to anyone involved with the Air Training Corp, for several years Mandy was also

the much loved O.C. 1429 ATC Squadron based at Parclyn, near the RAE .

Hence her funeral was attended by many hundreds of mourners.
